Very sadly following a short illness Max passed away on 9th June 2020. His handler wrote the following.
“Max was a gift dog to West Yorkshire Police in 2012 where he was licensed as a specialist search dog.
Thanks to Max’s extraordinary nose he was responsible for numerous firearms being recovered, a significant number of drugs finds and substantial amounts of money being located.
Max was a real character and was famous for his incredible moustache. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and is greatly missed by us all.”
PD Troy
7th July 2011 – 5th August 2018
Handler PC Smith
PD Troy was born on 7th July 2011 and homed with his handler PC Smith. He started his basic training course in February 2013 and hit the streets 12 weeks later. He lived at home with PC Smith and his family and was just as happy laying in the garden as he was out catching criminals. PC Smith recalls a job where they were tracking a suspected burglar and the track led into a river. Unfortunately they were both swept into the river but Troy managed to drag himself onto a log and PC Smith was able to use the tracking line to pull himself out of the water. Despite their swim they still went on to catch the burglar!
Troy couldn’t resist a cup of Yorkshire Tea and enjoyed sharing his home and van with PD Woody and also Trainee PD Storm.
On 5th August 2018 Troy was taken ill very suddenly and unfortunately passed away quickly after. He will leave a huge gap in his family and also the policing family and will be sorely missed. Thank you for your service Troy.

Murphy was a spaniel.He died from a tumour.

Shadow was a German Shepherd Dog.
PD Max
German Shepherd Dog Max died after suffering a collapsed lung.
PD Kane
German Shepherd Dog Kane died in a road traffic accident.
PD Bart
German Shepherd Dog Bart died in a road traffic accident.
PD Jake
German Shepherd Dog Jake died in theatre having a cyst removed.
PD Kai
Kai was a ten year old German Shepherd Dog.
PD Otto
Otto had a spinal issue. He was a German Shepherd Dog.
PD Oka
German Shepherd Dog Oka was deemed aggressive.
PD Harvey
German Shepherd Dog Harvey was put down for aggression. He was eight.
PD Rocco
A Spaniel who died from a tumour.

A 6 year old German Shepherd Dog who died from a tumour.

A seven year old German Shepherd who died from spinal Issues.

A German Shepherd whose cause of death was related to his skin and age.

A six year old German Shepherd who died from a torsion.

A 5 year old German Shepherd Dog. Died from Immune mediated Polyarthritis.
PD Nico
A five year old German Shepherd Dog. Put to sleep for aggression.
PD Tiger
A 3 year old German Shepherd Dog. Put to sleep for aggression.
