PD Bruce

PD Bruce worked alongside PC Pete Tattum. Whilst breaking up a brawl, PD Bruce bit a teenager. He was a five year old German Shepherd Dog and died in April 2002.

Sussex Police said: “”A police dog is not a pet. If we had a car that did not work or had faulty brakes then we would get rid of it. We have to be as bloody-minded as that for the sake of public safety.“

Bruce lived with PC Tattum and his family, including his daughter aged 10 and son aged 13.

Unknown Spaniel 2

A Spaniel Search Dog died whilst still operational in 2014. The dog had a neurological seizure which was inoperable so the kindest outcome was euthanasia. Unfortunately the name and age of the dog has not been maintained, due to the migration of data at the time of introducing a new operational system.
